Therapy that is unique to you

Jordan Day Weir (they/them),

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

There are some things about our suffering that are universal. Everyone has felt shame, fear, and grief in their lives. Everyone has to reckon with an unknowable future, and an unchangeable past. But your story and your path are all your own. Therapy is meant to help you regain presence and connectedness to your life, and so it must be tailored to you, a complex and mysterious individual. Perhaps hearing yourself described that way feels untrue. Of course it does - whatever you’ve been through, it’s altered your perception of who you are. Perhaps you think of yourself as a person who is damaged, a person who is depressed, a person who can’t get it together. You might be having these experiences, or be haunted by experiences of the past, but they are not who you are. The therapy process can help you reconnect to the mystery and beauty of being human, beyond your suffering, and sometimes even because of it. I believe we all have the power to face our situations head-on and accept who we are. The healing journey is about finding that power.

Why Meeting the Mystery?

Many things are profoundly mysterious to us. Life, death, change, other people, even ourselves. We like to ignore the mysterious element of our existence, often preferring to stick to things we know, even if those things are harmful to us. We use limiting beliefs and old habits to feel safer. But often, ignoring or denying the mystery in life can lead to far more suffering than there has to be. We can become controlling, irritable, anxious, depressed, and many other things because we are expending energy trying to close ourselves off from the full experience of our lives and the inevitability of change. Meeting the Mystery means beginning the journey of coming into closer contact with your pain (past and present), your joy, your relationships, and all other aspects of your experience.

"Follow your inner moonlight; don't hide the madness."

This is a space that is open to you, your needs, and your creativity.

A note on accessibility: unfortunately, the office is stair-access only.
